The Hammersmith Socialist Society (including Henry Halliday Sparling, William Morris and May Morris)
The Hammersmith Socialist Society (including Henry Halliday Sparling, William Morris and May Morris) by Sir Emery Walker 12 x 10 inch glass plate negative, circa 1891-1892
This is a v interesting photo. I have one that is similar-ish of the HSL taken (i think)in 1885 which you can find on my website www.martin-stott.com Ive been trying to find out both who is it - and seem to be making progress on that - and who took it. It is generally attributed to Fredrick Hollyer - tho i personally think its Emery Walker. So im particularly interested that you have a definite attribution to Walker for this pic. How do you come to that? You can contact me thru my website. Inicentally are you a member of the William Morris Society? regards, martin stott
WMS are having a rather belated 150th exhibition on May next year and Jan Marsh is doing a lecture -in Feb 2013 from memory. The programme is on the WMS website.

No, I ought to join the society, though my main interests are in Jane and the children.
